U.S. Markets for Interventional Peripheral Vascular Products

Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) encompasses a broad range of noncoronary diseases and disorders that are caused by the altered structure and function of the vessels that carry blood to the arms, brain, limbs, and visceral organs. A major cause of acute and chronic illness; the clinical manifestations of PVD are associated with a decline in functional capacity and quality of life; may lead to limb amputation; and increase the risk of death. The systemic nature of the disease also contributes to the development of disease in the arteries that supply the heart and brain and increase the risk of cardiovascular ischemic events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and death.
