U.S. Markets for Sports Medicine Devices and Products
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from July 2000 to June 2001, approximately 4.3 million nonfatal, unintentional sports- and recreation-related injuries were treated in United States (U.S.) hospital emergency rooms (ERs). Many of these injuries were dislocations, fractures, and sprains. As the U.S. population ages, the number of
sports- and recreation-related injuries is expected to increase.
