Point-of-Care Diagnostic Products

Most of the major disease categories of interest for point-of-care (POC) in vitro diagnostic testing are increasing in incidence and prevalence, with the primary drivers in developed countries being population growth and the aging of the population. Infectious disease is one of the most important disease categories for POC testing, as exemplified most recently by the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The spread of infectious diseases is being fueled by the increased mobility of the world’s population, allowing diseases that previously remained isolated in more remote areas to spread globally and at an unprecedented rate. In addition to infectious disease, applications for POC in vitro diagnostic testing covered by this report include:
